Thank-you to everyone that helped make the 1st Annual Albemarle Hospice Regatta and Party a success.  We exceeded our expectations with over $10,000 raised to support Hospice!  20 boats registered and 17 competed.  Conditions were excellent for sailing and all had a good time.  At the party afterwards on Grouper’s Deck everyone feasted on a great meal thanks to Taki and enjoyed the sounds of Bobby Plough, Chuck Hodges and Charlie Hoidal.

The goals of the hospice regatta are to raise money for our participating, non-profit hospices and to raise public awareness of hospices everywhere.  In this year’s regatta, hosted by the Pasquotank River Yacht Club, participating sailboats will compete on a closed course in the Pasquotank River. The race is open to sailors in spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes and includes a cruising class for sailors who do not normally race but want to show their support for Hospice care in North Carolina.

There is no better way to help raise awareness for Hospice Care and have a lot of fun doing it.

STAY TUNED ….  We are beginning to work on the 2009 Regatta and will be posting info often.

We cannot direct the wind,

but we can adjust the sails
