Any changes to the sailing instructions will be passed out at the skippers meeting.

SCHEDULE OF RACES

The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009.

The amount of consecutive races will be determined by the race committee.

THE COURSES

There will be two small boat courses.  The course closest to the Elizabeth City Waterfront will be the youth course.  The course near Bird Island will be the adult course.

The course setup will be a triangle, windward, leeward.  The starting line will be leeward of the course.

In case of really light or heavy wind, the course will only be a triangle.  The starting line will be the middle of the windward leg.   The start/finish line will be protected.

THE START

Races will be started using a 3 minute start.  There will not be any flags.

Recalls will be hailed from the committee boat.  All competitors are asked to pass the word along.

Classes may start together depending on the number of boats.

SCORING

Scoring will be based on low point scoring.  The open class will be scored by Portsmouth Handicap.

PROTESTS AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS

Boats shall hail “Protest” to the other boat.  If the protest is not accepted, notify the committee boat at the end of that race.  Try to settle all protests on the water.

The protest time limit is 10 minutes after the last boat has been pulled to shore and the committee boat has docked.
